THE NEED: PANDEMIC RESPONSE

Alvogen came to IBM to help them to better manage influenza vaccine stock in pharmacies during a pandemic outbreak. In the past, flu outbreaks have lead to severe shortages of the right vaccines in the right place as a result in low transparency, low visibility and broken supply chains. IBM in a twelve week Accelerated Visioning spent time deeply understanding pharmacy operations and how to maintain the supply chain in the instance of a new FLU pandemic. This project coincidently was spun up just before and into the COVID pandemic, many of the learnings and opportunities were critically relevant and timely. 

 

THE RESULT: THE RIGHT TOOLS AT THE RIGHT TIME
Working with the client we created an MVP that drew from public health and geographic data to create visualizations that tracked an outbreak in realtime, allowing for the supply chain to deliver vaccines ahead of a crisis all while giving visibility to Alvogen and the users.
